Chiropractic Earns “Essential” Breakthrough – Celebrates 125 Years

September 15, 2020 by admin Leave a Comment

candles number one hundred twenty five isolated on white background

The Chiropractic industry is celebrating 125 years and has earned “essential” recognition and public relations breakthroughs. During the pandemic of 2020, the Department of Homeland Security officially labeled chiropractors as Essential Service Providers, a distinction that has been a long time coming.

Our profession’s patients, practice members, and friends have known this for over 100 years as personal referrals have been driving our industry growth. Federal courts have made judgments in our profession’s favor and more people than ever are lining up to utilize chiropractic care, not just for back pain or neck pain, but as a holistic solution for living a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.

As the prehistoric stigmas from chiropractic’s early years completely die off, millions of individuals appreciate the essential nature of chiropractic care as their primary mode of health care. Many companies have embraced chiropractic care by including chiropractic services for reimbursement. Companies like Google, Standard Process, and others even provide on-site chiropractic services for their employees. Professional, Olympic, college, and youth sports teams have chiropractors as key members of their healthcare teams.

It is very common to see chiropractic offices filled with generations of individuals and families. Some people “limp in and leap out” while many others come for weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly Lifestyle Care adjustments to help them stay well and function at a high level.

The Rocky Road to Essential

Getting to the point of Essential has been an interesting journey. Politically, the Chiropractic industry chose not to become a part of the mainstream medical allopathic umbrella which resulted in vicious, unfounded attacks against the profession. The chiropractic industry had to overcome…

  • Political battles to achieve licensure in the early to mid-1900s
  • Arrests for “practicing without a license”
  • Smear campaigns by the AMA and pharmaceutical industry
  • Reimbursement inequalities in the 90s to the present day
  • Political infighting between its holistic and allopathic branches

And we did!

Chiropractic Wins in Federal Court – Obliterating the Lies

In 1987, United States District Judge Susan Getzendanner found the American Medical Association (AMA) and its constituents guilty and in violation of the Sherman Antitrust Act, on the grounds that they intended to obliterate the chiropractic profession. The AMA took insidious action to contain and eliminate the chiropractic profession with accusations of being unethical and unscientific, and to position the medical agenda at the forefront of healthcare.

During this famous Chester C. A. Wilk et al. v. AMA et al. case, records revealed that medical doctors were encouraged by the AMA to exploit chiropractors and accuse them of wrongdoings. The plan outlined the “containment of the chiropractic profession” that “will result in the decline of chiropractic,” detailed with action steps from denying them from being in hospitals to opposing insurance coverage for their care to even comparing them to dogs.

This epic 11-year battle and chiropractic victory opened the door to new opportunities for holistic healing and drug-free health care led by the chiropractic industry. Now, it is common for chiropractors and medical colleagues to openly refer to each other with chiropractors often taking the lead on the care.

Science is Catching Up to What Patients and Doctors Already Know

Gravity existed long before the apple fell on Isaac Newton’s head! This same concept is true for the healing principles of the human body and its relationship to chiropractic care.

There have been exciting breakthroughs in neuroscience, quantum mechanics, biology, and the immune system that have given the chiropractic profession a boost within the scientific community. The principle of neuroplasticity, the connection between the nerve system and immune system, the understanding of arthritic changes as they relate to poor posture, and many other findings have helped give confidence to the public and change their reasons for consulting doctors of chiropractic.

Essential Innervation, Essential Chiropractic

It is now well documented scientifically that healthy nerve supply is essential for a healthy life. This is true for babies, toddlers, kids, teens, college students, pregnant moms, working people, fitness buffs, parents, senior citizens, and everyone else with a spine and nervous system, regardless of their age.

Opportunities Abound in Chiropractic

Opportunities abound with 68,000 chiropractors compared to 1.1 million medical doctors in the United States alone. Chiropractors are graduating at a rate less than the world needs to replenish those chiropractors that have retired or passed away.

Outside of the US, the need is even more dramatic. With only 12 chiropractic schools in the entirety of Europe, many countries do not have a school at all. As an example, the European Union has 700 million people and less than 5,000 chiropractors. The demand is growing and it needs to be filled.

The Largest and Safest Drugless, Non-Surgical Health and Healing Profession

The effectiveness of chiropractic care is exciting and it is also less expensive than allopathic, surgical based protocols. It is also much safer as exemplified by malpractice costs that chiropractors versus other practitioners have to pay to insurance carriers! Like all other medical professionals, chiropractors are required to have comprehensive insurance coverage that prevents them from absorbing liability.

The average cost of medical malpractice insurance is $7,500 annually; for medical personnel, between $4,000 and 12,000 a year. Surgeons pay between $30,000 and $50,000 a year.9 With high levels of risk comes higher premiums on policies.

Chiropractors, on the other hand, pay a median premium of about $40 per month, or $500 per year, for a business owner’s policy that protects chiropractors against patient injuries, property damage, and damage to their business property. Non-business owners pay as little as $370 per year.8 With low levels of risk comes lower premiums on policies, and is based on the overall amount of claims against the profession. This is especially important for the public to understand, that chiropractic care is not only effective but significantly safer.

What Everybody Ought To Know About Chiropractic

Chiropractic is modern, chic, and copacetic. It’s a non-invasive, drugless, and non-surgical, very hip way to take control over your own health. You will come to understand and know the power of the chiropractic adjustment and care. When should you start getting checked by a chiropractor?

At birth. Here’s why.

When babies come through the birth canal, there are about 40 pounds of pressure being exuded onto that baby’s neck during delivery. It takes 60 pounds of pressure to completely decapitate a newborn. In nearly 100% of SIDS cases, the infant dies of a torqued atlas. The atlas is the highest bone in the vertebral column and the one that supports the head. When the atlas is out of alignment, it can compress the brain stem which is where the autonomic function is housed.

Not only are chiropractic adjustments essential for babies to grow properly through the lifecycle stages, but it’s also one of the most powerful epigenetic lifestyle activities that has the power to eliminate roadblocks to the well-being of the body. This is our goal with the generational care and lifestyle care that we provide for the entire family.

Don’t wait for a crisis to force you to act and come in for a chiropractic check-up. Make an appointment for yourself and your family. Keep yourself aligned and balanced as a lifestyle. You will appreciate the care and find it, dare we say, “essential”.

Your Personal 2020 Vision of Health

January 2, 2020 by admin Leave a Comment

Happy New Year and here’s to you accomplishing your personal 2020 vision, especially as it relates to your health. You deserve it!

For many people, making healthier choices can make the difference between a successful, happy year and a challenging one. Our office is ready to help you make your health a priority so this is your best year ever!

Starting with the principle that health comes from within, making healthier choices that are aligned with your body functioning at its highest level, increasing your resistance naturally, and providing yourself with good nutrition and fitness can make all the difference!

The health of your spine and your nervous system must be your number one priority! Your nervous system includes your brain, spinal cord and the 45 miles of nerves that go to every cell, tissue, and organ in your body. This includes your special senses, your gut, your muscles, heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, stomach, skin, and every other cell—all trillions of them!

The Lifestyle Care Continuum – Crisis Care to Lifestyle Care

Crisis Care

If you really want to make lasting changes to your health, you’ve got to stop living from crisis to crisis. “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it” was the motto of many elders who defined “broke” as serious, life-threatening disease, or severe excruciating pain. They used the personal crisis as their primary motivator to action.

This mindset and strategy can lead to a lifetime of suffering and deterioration as individuals age and these issues become chronic. Don’t wait for this inevitable reality to permanently hinder your life. Act now and let 2020 be the year you make Critical Transition to Lifestyle Care.

Children in Crisis

Birth trauma, spectrum challenges, food, and environmental sensitivities can make a child and parent’s life more challenging. Addressing the neurological component of these issues with chiropractic care is vital to immediate and long-term solutions and your child reaching their potential in life.

The Critical Transition

Crisis Care gives relief and hope as it takes the edge off a health problem. The Critical Transition gets will get you off the roller coaster. Stay committed to your care and healthier lifestyle, regardless of how you feel so your body can change.

Keeping your spine, brain, and nervous system healthy enables your body to adapt in a healthy way and change for the better. Kids usually don’t require this phase of care because their conditions, subluxations, are not as chronic. If there has been birth trauma, the longer you wait (this includes adults) the more care that will likely be required.

Lifestyle Care

The intensity of your Lifestyle Care will depend on the intensity of your lifestyle and the underlying condition of your spine and nervous system. Keeping your brain, spine, and nervous system healthy as a part of your lifestyle will keep you engaged in life and enable you to perform at higher levels in all areas including work, parenting, athletics and more.

Ask us what this specifically means for you and for your family members.

Chiropractic: A Primary Resource

Millions of individuals and families are utilizing chiropractic care as one of their primary resources. It is holistic, drug-free, and helps keep your body balanced and functioning better.

The longevity factor is becoming a reality for more people as they see their family members getting older before their very eyes. They are realizing they have to live differently if they don’t want to be a burden or suffer as they age.

Follow the path of the Lifestyle Care Continuum. Make these 100 Year Lifestyle choices today and as a result, you will more likely enjoy a sensational century.

Schedule your next appointment.

Change Your Family’s Course of History

December 4, 2018 by admin Leave a Comment

Stop Blaming Your Genes

If you want to live an active, healthy, quality of life for 80, 90, 100 years and beyond, here is a very important message: stop blaming your genes. Too many people rationalize unhealthy choices with words like, “Why bother? It’s in my genes.” You can’t get away with this anymore.

The lifestyle choices that you make for yourself and your family can literally change the course of your history. A family history of heart disease or cancer used to mean that it was your destiny to get those conditions too, because they were “in your genes.”

We are learning through the science of epigenetics that nothing could be further from the truth. Epigenetics, which means ‘around the gene’, has shown that your lifestyle choices, both positive and negative, can influence the expression of your genes, turning them on and off like a light switch. In the largest nature/nurture study that was ever done, on 44,000 pairs of twins, it was found that the primary determines in most cases of cancer were environmental or lifestyle factors such as tobacco use, diet, and exercise habits rather than the inherited disposition of their family history.

A recent report in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA found the activity of more than 500 genes in the normal tissue of thirty men with low-risk prostate cancer changed after the patients began eating diets higher in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and lower in red meats and fats, while also implementing an exercise and stress reducing regimen. After three months the men had changes in the activity of about 500 genes, including 48 disease-preventing genes that were turned on and 453 disease-promoting genes that were turned off.

Adjust Your Lifestyle
Changing the course of your history is not rocket science. Eating a diet filled with fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, healthy fats, and grass-fed meats will keep you lean and healthy, and they will activate healthy genes. Reducing stress is also important as stress has been shown to shorten the telomeres (the caps on the genes), which can reduce the life expectancy of your cells. Exercise, as a part of a lifestyle, reduces stress, strengthens your heart and muscles, and has been shown to reduce the risk of nearly every disease. Optimistic thinking has been shown to keep people motivated to make healthy lifestyle choices regardless of their circumstances. In addition, chiropractic care as a part of a healthy lifestyle, Lifestyle Care, keeps your spine and nervous system aligned, balanced, healthy, and free from deterioration. This ensures that the vital messages between the brain and the body are optimized.

One of the life-changing principles of The 100 Year Lifestyle is “Change is easy, thinking about change is hard.” It is much easier to eat healthy and exercise regularly as a part of your lifestyle than it is to be on a weight gain-weight loss rollercoaster or to have to deal with being chronically sick or injured.

Chiropractic care as a part of a lifestyle is a much better option than the crisis-to-crisis suffering that comes with an unhealthy spine and nervous system. Bringing these values into your home can literally change the course of your history and ensure a healthy future for you and your loved ones.

Please take advantage of the resources our office provides to help you and your loved ones rewrite your history. Contact us to make an appointment for yourself or someone in your family. A healthy future could be yours for generations.

Enjoy the Healthiest Holidays Ever

December 4, 2018 by admin Leave a Comment

Good Health is a Blessing

If you, your family, and your friends are healthy, consider it a blessing. The opportunity to gather and enjoy each other’s company without the worry or burden of suffering loved ones contributes greatly to a healthier holiday season.

Take Your Health to a New Level

If you and your loved ones fall into already consider yourselves “healthy”, consider taking your health to new levels. Recommitting to health is especially important during the holiday season. When faced with choices between healthy foods and unhealthy foods, choose the healthy ones. Make exercise your first priority by exercising first thing in the morning so that you do not get swept away by holiday activities and miss out on your workout. Schedule your chiropractic adjustments in advance so your nervous system stays healthy and your body is more resistant to stress.

When you are making plans to gather with family and friends, do not just make appointments to gather around food and drink. Gather around going for walks in the woods or hikes in the mountains or on the trails. Gather around fresh air and sunshine. If the sun is not out or the weather is bad in your area, take a fitness class together. If you have young children, this will help them to build healthy habits and values that can last a lifetime. Encourage house guests to pack clothing and shoes for these kinds of activities.

Share Healthy Recipes and Gifts

When planning your holiday meals, experiment with healthier recipes. Look for dishes that call for fresh ingredients. Download five or six recipes from your favorite cooking website and have the people you will be gathering with do the same. Talk about them and decide which ones would be fun to experiment with. Mix in a new, fresh, healthy recipe with the other foods that you like to eat and bring balance to your holiday meals, making them less destructive to your body.

Each year you can experiment with new recipes. Before you know it, your holiday meals will become both delicious and healthy while helping you get off the weight loss, weight gain rollercoaster ride that has been a plague for so many people. You will leave your holiday table guilt-free and empowered.

Healthy gift giving can change a life. Many people are turning to healthy gift giving as a way to say, “I love you, I care about you, your health is important to me.” Your willingness to invest in the well-being of those that you love can go a long way to inspiring them to choose to invest in it. This action on your part can even act as an intervention to someone who is really in trouble and in denial about their health.

Healthy gifts can include a gym membership, exercise shoes, a heart monitor, a chiropractic examination or a series of chiropractic adjustments. While so many gifts are forgotten within 30 days, healthy gifts can be life changing and may be remembered for a lifetime.

Embrace a Healing Path

If you or any of your friends or family members are experiencing pain or ill health of any kind this holiday season, this is all the more reason to make healthy choices a priority. By following these guidelines and removing pressure from the spine and nervous system with chiropractic care, this holiday season can become an opportunity to embrace a healing path and a healthier New Year.

Everyone deserves to be healthy and express their full potential from the time they are born through their last breath of life. This includes you and your loved ones. We hope that you enjoy the healthiest, happiest holiday season ever.
