Massage Therapy
...a natural compliment to our patients’ chiropractic care and a welcome respite for all.
At Anchor Chiropractic, we are pleased to offer in-house, convenient and quality massage therapy to compliment your health goals.

While chiropractic focuses on the spinal bones and their impact on the nervous system, massage releases the muscles that hold and move the spine. Both disciplines work together to help keep the body in proper alignment, balance, and function.

Our office offers a professional setting, collaboration with chiropractic care, central scheduling and billing for insurance, and a therapist that is trained in a wide variety of techniques to best meet your unique needs.
A Massage Therapy session includes time for case history taking and assessment, the massage itself, and any necessary home care instructions.
Call today and schedule a timeout for your good health. You’ll be glad you did.
Our two categories of massage:
Clinical Massage
Massage based off of a doctor’s referral for treatment related to injury or other specific conditions.
Wellness Massage
Massage requested by the client for the purposes of relaxation, stress relief, and general well-being.
Additional massage information:
Clinical Massage
If you have been injured in a car accident or on the job, or if you have another injury or condition for which massage is medically indicated, your health care practitioner may give you a prescription for massage.
Clinical massage is medical care delivered to a patient under the direction of a prescribing health care provider (eg. D.C., M.D., D.O., or N.D.) and typically paid for by a third party.
It is based on "medical necessity," focused on functional outcomes, and may involve a combination of injury-treatment techniques.
Our massage therapist has the clinical and professional experience to work with your specific challenges. You can relax, knowing that our office networks with many referring providers and knows how to handle your legal and insurance paperwork. Our goal is the same as yours: a faster recovery.
Call today for prompt attention and compassionate care.
Wellness Massage
Wellness massage is a consumer service delivered to a client who usually self-pays.
It is scheduled at your request, focused on your own health goals, and usually entails a variety of relaxation massage techniques.
Budgeting time and money for bodywork at consistent intervals is an investment in your health. Just because massage feels like a treat doesn’t mean it is any less therapeutic or important to your overall health.
Our massage therapist respects your proactive health choices, and is adept at taming your stressed muscles and giving you a relaxing and satisfying massage. Your quality of life is important to us.
To encourage our clients to consider massage as an important ingredient in their healthy lifestyle, we offer special pricing on Wellness Massage. Call today for details.
Hot Stone Massage
Hot stone massage is a 90-minute retreat into a truly relaxing experience. Sanitized stones are heated and then used to impart heat onto the body by leaving them in specific points along your spine and/or by using them as massage tools to deliver effective tissue and muscle massage at a pressure level comfortable to you. Too busy to schedule a full-length massage?
A fully-clothed 5 to 10 minute chair massage may loosen some knots and send you quickly on your way in a more relaxed frame of mind. Think of it as having a small truffle between meals. No appointment necessary; if the massage therapist is available, her hands are as well.

FAQ’s
What does massage therapy include?

As many of our patients value massage in combination with their chiropractic care, Dr. Lamar will collaborate with the massage therapist to ensure your condition is being appropriately addressed. In addition to the actual massage that takes place, your session includes time for case history taking and assessment as well as any necessary "homework" instructions (such as stretches) to further the benefits of your care.
What should I wear to the massage appointment?
Comfortable clothing is recommended, however massage is typically performed with the client unclothed. Some clients choose to leave their undergarments on, and this is perfectly acceptable. The massage therapist will leave the room while you undress, get onto the table, and cover yourself with a clean linen. You will be appropriately draped at all times to keep you warm and comfortable. You decide what level of comfort is right for you and your privacy is respected at all times.
Where will my massage take place?
Your massage will take place in a quiet, warm room, and you will lie on a table specifically adjusted for your comfort. Soft lighting and music may be used to create a relaxing atmosphere.
What parts of my body will be massaged?
You and the therapist will discuss the desired outcome. A typical full body massage session will include work on your back, arms, legs, head, neck and shoulders; however, if you are receiving a your referring health care provider may prescribe emphasis or restriction to certain areas of the body.
How long of a massage session should I schedule?
The average full-body massage session lasts one hour. A half-hour appointment only allows time for a partial massage session, such as neck and shoulders, back or legs and feet. A 90-minute massage allows time for a relaxing full-body massage plus focused work on an area that may be bothering you. Even still, there are times that these massages may not fit into a busy schedule — this is where a fully-clothed 5 to 10 minute may be just the ticket to "home in" on a particularly troublesome spot.
What should I do during the massage?
Make yourself comfortable. You may relax and be quiet, and even fall asleep. You may engage in conversation with your massage therapist and ask her any questions you may have. Most importantly, you should inform your therapist if the pressure is ever too much or too little, or if you are experiencing particular areas of tenderness or discomfort. Are there any medical conditions that would make massage inadvisable? Yes. Therefore, please inform the practitioner of any health problems or medications you are taking on the health intake form that you will fill out prior to the massage.
Will my insurance cover my massage therapy?
It depends on the purpose of your massage. If your massage has been prescribed by a health care practitioner to assist in the treatment of an injury or partiuclar condition, insurance compaines will often offer some amount of reimbursement. This is known as Clinical Massage and is based on "medical necessity." Our massage therapist is a provider with most insurance companies, and we will be happy to contact yours to help you determine your benefits.
If, on the other hand, your massage is primarily for stress reduction, relaxation, and general well-being, insurance reimbursement is not available. This type of massage is called Wellness Massage and is becoming a rapidly growing addition to many health and fitness routines, as well as being an effective complement to other health care services. To encourage our clients to consider this type of massage as an important ingredient in their healthy lifestyle, we offer speical pricing on Wellness Massage. Call today for details.
When are the massage therapists available?
Generally speaking, whenever Dr. Lamar is in the office, one of the massage therapists is as well. In addition, we are now offering expanded massage therapy hours by appointment to include early morning, lunch, late afternoons, and Saturday mornings. Call today and let us find a massage appointment that works for you!
