Kingston Chiropractor | Dr. Thomas Lamar

Kingston's Chiropractor, Dr. Thomas R. Lamar — dedicated and respected. What do snow cones and chiropractic have in common? Nothing, really — unless of course you are talking about Dr. Lamar.

At the age of 14, he made the mistake of trying to lift a snow cone machine from an awkward, bent-over position. Immediately, he felt something slide in his lower back. "The pain didn’t actually show up until the next day," Dr. Lamar remembers. "The quarterback fired a pass my way. As I caught the football — absorbing its speed into my abdomen — it happened. My lower back exploded into excruciating, disabling pain." After seeking medical care, he learned to live with the medical doctor’s diagnosis of a "strained back."

With his sights set on a medical career, Dr. Lamar attended the University of California, Riverside, where he studied the basic sciences of biology, chemistry, and physics, along with basic physiology and anatomy courses, but, by far, his favorite science class was entomology! In his junior year he decided to opt out of the premed training and seek out an alternative heath care profession.

Good thing. Because after lifting a Christmas tree, his back went out again. He got his first chiropractic adjustment, and it was DRAMATIC. "If there ever was a chiropractic ‘miracle adjustment’ to be had, I got it," he smiles. At that point, chiropractic became more than a professional option — it became a passion to pursue.

After completing his study at UCR, Dr. Lamar was accepted at the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic. Courses there included biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, spinal biomechanics, X-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques, and patient care in the clinic. A 1995 graduation had him ready to offer his skills to the North Kitsap County community.

Lamar Family"I love my job. I love offering hope to people suffering from ‘strained back’ syndrome, and working to give people their life back, free from pain. We work hard to educate patients, to coach them to be proactive in how they manage their own health. Most people want to get the most out of life, and it’s great to be on their health care team to help make that happen for them."

Dr. Lamar is happily married to Keri Mae, and they currently have six children, including their newest with Down Syndrome. All of the children have been regularly adjusted by Dad from birth. Their family is actively involved in their church and community, and are happy to live in the friendly town of Kingston. They would love to meet you and learn how they may be of service to you.
